Why do we pay Agents so much money?

I have wondered why we have to pay Agents so much for the work to be done?
I recently enquired on a check on a vehicle for a service and was astonished at the cost that we have to pay for work to be done.
It made me wonder, the song from Rodriguez - I wonder came into my head whilst I was thinking this. Not sure if you have ever heard the song but if you can, search it and play it whilst reading this,😂
I understand that there are overheads and shop floors and appearances that need to be kept up, I have been in the back of specific manufacturer's workshops and must say, I have seen normal "back yard" shops that have better appearances.
It made me wonder what do you pay for? The poor guy that does the work get's paid minimum wage, he / she cannot afford the vehicle he services or fixes on a daily basis, They have no idea how the vehicle they service even drives, they obviously get training, that I cannot comment on. But I think that there is a big difference between what clients pay for an hour's labour compared to what these guys are being paid.
I believe if they are brand ambassadors they should be paid for what they do.
But that is my little rant which will have no impact on anyone.
Maybe someone important reads this and responds and tells me that I am wrong.
I am also astonished at the cost of parts, I am not sure where the Manufacturer gets to the prices for parts on the vehicles, I do not think that this is only a SA problem, but I can see that if manufacturers want to keep their clients in their cars, they will need to commit to cheaper pricing on parts. People pay a lot of money, probably by taking a loan from the banks, but the other side is they are unable to maintain the vehicles as the parts are crazy expensive.
I would like for someone to sit me down and draw some serious pictures and explain to me the manufacturer cost of certain parts that justify the cost that the customer has to pay?
It would help me and probably all of you to understand why you pay for the price for that part.
It is frustrating to see what people are being charged for work being carries out by a manufacturer to a clients vehicle for the basic service.
I am very excited to see what will happen when we only have electric vehicles that require no maintenance? What will happen in SA is a mystery at this moment but I hope that the customer will be the one that benefit from this as well as the manufacturer. Especially if you are a customer, you are also a brand ambassador and the manufacturers need to understand this.
OK I am climbing of my pedestal,
Hope Everyone has an Amazing Weekend,
Go Bokke!
